Chess : the game of gentlemens & geniuses

Chess is a two-player strategy board game played on a checkered board with 64 squares arranged in an 8×8 grid. The game is played by millions of people worldwide. Chess is believed to be derived from the Indian game chaturanga sometime before the 7th century. Chaturanga is also the likely ancestor of the Eastern strategy games xiangqui (Chinese chess), janggi (Korean chess), and shogi (Japanese chess). Chess reached Europe by the 9th century, due to the Umayyad conquest of Hispania. The pieces assumed their current powers in Spain in the late 15th century; the modern rules were standardized in the 19th century.Chess is a two-player strategy board game played on a checkered board with 64 squares arranged in an 8×8 grid. • Better Brain Function: the brain is remarkable – it is responsible for our mental performance and it is the most crucial organ in the human body. When the brain has no stimulation, the cells inside slowly die, it’s an example of “if you don’t use it, you lose it” moto, however, chess is a tool which gives users a rigorous mental workout. Let’s look at a quick example: to get the most benefit from a physical workout, you need to exercise both the left and right sides of your body. Studies show that in order to play chess well, a player must develop and utilize his or her brain’s left hemisphere, which deals with object recognition, as well as the right hemisphere, which deals with pattern recognition.

The Helicopter Shot

The helicopter shot in cricket is the act of flicking the bat toward the leg side when facing a yorker or a fuller-length delivery, and finishing the stroke with a flourish by twisting the bat in an overhead circled needed] This shot, which requires excellent timing and wrist-work, is considered a new innovation in cricket, and is seen as an unconventional form of batsmanship.Traditionally, faster bowlers have used yorker-length deliveries toward the end of limited-overs matches because it is difficult to hit such balls to the boundary; the helicopter shot is one answer to this tactic.

Mohammad Azharuddin played the first helicopter shot against the South African team in 1990 at Eden Gardens.[citation needed] Aravinda Silva, Kevin Peterson and Charama Silva also played similar shots.[citation needed] The shot was played by M. S. Dhoni, but it was fellow player Santosh Lal, a childhood friend of Dhoni’s, who taught him how to play the shot.

Mahendra Singh Dhoni

born 7 July 1981), is an Indian international cricketer who captained the Indian national team in limited-overs formats from 2007 to 2016 and in Test cricket from 2008 to 2014. He is the only captain in the history of Cricket to win all ICC trophies. Under his captaincy, India won the 2007 ICC World Twenty20, the 2010 and 2016 Asia Cups, the 2011 ICC Cricket World Cup and the 2013 ICC Champions Trophy. A right-handed middle-order batsman and wicket-keeper, Dhoni is one of the highest run scorers in One Day Internationals (ODIs) with more than 10,000 runs scored and is considered an effective “finisher” in limited-overs formats

Lionel Messi’s incredible ‘Panenka free-kick’

Lionel Andrés Messi Cuccittini

born 24 June 1987) is an Argentine professional footballer who plays as a forward and captains both Spanish club Barcelona and the Argentina national team. Often considered the best player in the world and widely regarded as one of the greatest players of all time, Messi has won a record six Ballon d’Or awards, and a record six European Golden Shoes. He has spent his entire professional career with Barcelona, where he has won a club-record 34 trophies, including ten La Liga titles, four UEFA Champions League titles and six Copas del Rey. A prolific goalscorer and a creative playmaker, Messi holds the records for most goals in La Liga (438), a La Liga and European league season (50), most hat-tricks in La Liga (36) and the UEFA Champions League (8), and most assists in La Liga (181) and the Copa América (12). He has scored over 700 senior career goals for club and country.

Lionel Messi scored a remarkable ‘Panenka free-kick’ during Barcelona’s derby win over Espanyol – but it turns out this isn’t the first time he’s pulled off the stunning set-piece technique.

Against Espanyol, Messi used a ‘Panenka’ style normally seen when players take a penalty. The technique involves chipping the ball into the net, and at the Nou Camp, Messi similarly clipped the ball with very little pace towards Diego Lopez’s goal.

His shot was so slow that defender Victor Sanchez was able to backpedal from the wall towards the goal-line – yet he was still unable to keep the ball out of the goal.

Instead, he cushioned it into the net, away from the flailing Lopez.

Nine years ago, Messi pulled Barcelona level at the Estadio de los Juegos Mediterraneos with the same technique – although this time, there was no pesky defender attempting to ruin the aesthete.
